战后的英国，一位喜爱孩子，却在早年痛失爱女的富有女寡妇弗瑞斯特夫人在每年的圣诞节都会在家中举办盛大的晚宴招待当地福利院的孤儿们，并且让孩子们亲切的称呼自己为小豆阿姨； 而福利院中有一对调皮、叛逆的库姆斯兄妹，因不服管教故未能入选可参与宴会的“乖孩子”名单，因此古灵精怪的哥哥克里斯托弗便使出坏招，携妹妹悄悄跟随到了弗瑞斯特夫人的豪宅，而这一举动非但没有引起夫人的反感，反而得到了她的热情款待，但是哥哥克里斯托弗却发现这位夫人对自己的小妹妹有些过于关心，并且在家中隐藏了某种不为人知的可怕秘密，这让他不禁想起了《韩塞尔和格蕾特》中那位试图吃掉孩子的坏女巫....This is a retelling of the old tale of Hansel and Gretel, but set in England in the 1920s. To the children and staff at the orphanage, Auntie Roo is a kindly American widow who gives them a lavish Christmas party each year in her mansion, Forrest Grange. In reality, she is a severely disturbed woman, who keeps the mummified remains of her little daughter in a nursery in the attic. One Christmas, her eye falls upon a little girl who reminds her of her daughter and she imprisons her in her attic. Nobody believes her brother, Christopher, when he tells them what has happened, so he goes to rescue her.
