This is my favorite alliteration in Hotel California. Im Juli reminds me of this song, definitely from some drug scenes, smoking, and alcohol. When I was in college, I took post-war German film, and the last film for that class was Auf Der Anderen Seite, aka The Edge of Heaven. I watched that film for like 13 times because my friend and I were required to do a leading class discussion on this film combined with our reading analysis for this film. BTW, I read that reading analysis for 6 times, and it was a long paper, but still I don't get it. Anyway, back to The Edge of Heaven and Im Juli, I think I found Akin's style. At the beginning, he gave us a hook up, something dramatic, unexplained. Then he unfolded a complete different story. Daniel met Melek, met Juli, and met Luna. The sun guided him, and he thought he found his love. It was the destiny, which he and Melek would be apart. One in Germany, and one in Turkey. But he is going there to chase his true love. But he met Juli on his way to Turkey, and Juli would embark her journey wherever the first car takes her. They met, they got to Bayern, they got into a faked fight, on broad, off broad, got separated, got married, and got apart. I remembered the Melek said, you don't actually know me. I think maybe there is a veil of perception. I think I know you, but I don't. I think I love you, but I love "love" not "you".
Daniel met someone nice and someone mean. He lived through car problem, lack of money and passport, being drugged, being thrown into water, forced to marry, failure of physics, met a corpse, find out that he does not love Melek. He lives in the journey. Not a boring life anymore.
