Reality is often more unpredictable than fiction. At the beginning of the story, I took it for granted that it was a story about a hero who went through all kinds of risks and finally won the battle. After all, there were so many contestants out there, why Donald Crowhurst? However, this "third option" is so unexpected and understandable. I couldn't imagine how the story would go from there. Watching Donald shoot his eyes wide open on a 16mm film camera, I knew he had given up the struggle. When I saw his questioning of god and his denial of himself in his diary, I seemed to see myself. He's an ordinary person, too, but with too much expectation. Many in the interview regretted not stopping him. I think, however, that if Donald had given up at first, he would have lived forever in regret. If the end is a tragedy, perhaps the sea is the best ending for Donald.
